Our Focus on Wellbeing
At our school, we place a strong emphasis on student wellbeing, recognising that a supportive environment is the foundation for academic and personal success. We are proud to offer two dedicated spaces that cater to the diverse needs of our students, ensuring they feel supported in every aspect of their lives.
On-Site Wellbeing Counselling and Psychologists
For students needing specialised mental health support, our dedicated team of qualified counsellors and psychologists provide a more formal setting. These services address complex and sensitive concerns, offering tailored interventions, one-on-one counselling, and professional care. Whether students need short-term guidance or ongoing support, our team ensures every individual feels heard, understood, and empowered.
Our Student Support Services include registered psychologists and counsellors, available on-site to offer confidential, professional mental health support. These experts work closely with students to address individual challenges, promote resilience, and provide guidance in managing academic pressures, social dynamics, and personal issues.
The Hub
The Hub is a specially designed safe space where students can find support, decompress, and engage in wellbeing programs. It’s a welcoming environment where students can access immediate support, take a break, and join a range of group activities that focus on personal growth and resilience. It hosts a wide range of student wellbeing initiatives, including:
- ‘Pats and Chats’ with Therapy Dogs – Providing comfort and connection through interaction with our school therapy dogs.
- ‘Strong Start Plus’ – Assisting students who face challenges in re-engaging with school life and developing organisational skills.
- Breakout Regulation Space: This space is available for students needing a sensory break or a quiet area to reset and regulate their emotions.
- Group Programs: Students can join supportive group sessions such as:
- RAISE Mentoring: A mentorship program focused on building self-esteem, relationships, and leadership skills.
- ICAN Network: Supporting students to build resilience and self-belief.
- Study Without Stress: A program designed to help students manage academic pressures and study effectively.
- Coaching for Confidence: Offering techniques and strategies for students to develop confidence and self-assurance.
- Wellbeing Wednesdays: Weekly wellbeing activities on Wednesdays, with a rotating schedule of activities, such as crafts with Nillumbik Youth, live music from FreeZa concerts, and workshops on online safety hosted by Banyule Youth.
Termly Wellbeing Schedule
- Our Wellbeing Wednesdays are complemented by a termly schedule of activities and events, designed to engage students and promote positive wellbeing. Upcoming highlights include International Women’s Day celebrations, Keeping Yourself Safe Online, and a collaborative Rainbow Alliance event.
The Hub is a vibrant, student-focused area where wellbeing is woven into the daily fabric of school life. Together, The Hub and our formal wellbeing services create a comprehensive network of support, helping students navigate challenges and build resilience for the future.
